Corey Humphrey joined VCU’s Division of Community Engagement in February 2014 as director of development with the Virginia Mentoring Partnership. Originally from Richmond, he returned to his hometown in 2006 after designing travel packages as an agent for Winter Park Resort in Colorado. For the next six years, Corey worked with the Greater Richmond Chamber in various roles including membership consultant, small business programs manager and manager of leadership programs. As leadership program manager, Humphrey helped to develop and grow the Chamber’s HYPE (Helping Young Professionals Engage) and Mentor Richmond programs, intended to  develop a new generation of community leaders in the Richmond Region and created “804UM,” an annual, half-day young professional summit.

Humphrey was recognized in 2009 as one of the “Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars of the Chamber World” by American Chamber of Commerce Executives Magazine and as one of Style Weekly’s “Top 40 under 40” in 2011. Corey serves on the board of directors of HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Equal), as well as the Virginia Equal Housing Foundation, and for the past four years has mentored Henderson Middle School students through the AMP! Metro Richmond program.
