Samuel R. Brown Sr.
Samuel R. Brown Sr. joined the Division of Community Engagement in winter 2018 as the cocurricular coordinator of the ASPiRE program. In this position, he aids the ASPiRE students with participating in activities geared toward engagement of the community, learning opportunities, events within the residence hall and leadership training. He coordinates with community partners, on-campus faculty and staff, as well as serving as a coach to ASPiRE students. His role is to ensure that students are afforded opportunities that keep them connected to the university, and that allow them to develop the necessary skills to be successful in their postgraduate endeavors.
With over a decade of service to students of all ages, Brown has worked both in local school districts and local nonprofit organizations such as Peter Paul Development Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Richmond. He has served as a site coordinator at George Mason Elementary School, college and career advisor in Henrico County Public Schools, middle and high school program lead teacher at Peter Paul, and several other community action roles.
