The Division of Community Engagement provides a compiled listing of scholarly conferences related to community engagement. VCU service-learning faculty presenting at community engagement conferences may be eligible for funding through the Service-Learning Travel Grants Program.

Fall Semester Conferences

Annual Conference of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE)
The conference provides leadership for the field of adult and continuing education by expanding opportunities for adult growth and development; unifying adult educators; fostering the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices; promoting identity and standards for the profession; and advocating relevant public policy and social change initiatives.

Annual Conference of the Association of American Colleges
AAC&U member institutions are ensuring that students are prepared for life and work through curricular and cocurricular transformation. Scaled-up high-impact practices, high-quality assessment of curricular and cocurricular learning, transparent and well-designed educational pathways from the first to the final year, and the creation of inclusive campuses that promote student success are a few of the practices that higher education offers to ensure that students are now gaining the essential skills that are valued by employers and necessary for democratic participation and a life well lived.

Global Engagement and Spaces of Practice
Encourages individuals and teams of faculty, student affairs educators, administrators, and students to explore new approaches to global learning in the disciplines and through interdisciplinary courses and programs—study on campus, study away, study abroad, and community-based learning. Together, we will interrogate how institutions are connecting their campuses with communities across the street or around the globe in response to pressing issues of global concern.

Imagining America National Conference
The conference enables people to build and sustain relationships that link stories, fulfill the democratic purposes of higher education, and address collective challenges.

Leadership Conference and Ethics
The conference provides a forum for discussions on issues of national, regional, and state importance, such as cyber defense, historical events, and the leaders in academia, business, government, military, and think-tanks.

Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference
Attendees will come together and learn best practices for addressing neighborhood issues of the times, attend informative workshops, network with one another, and share experiences and information toward building stronger communities.
