Fan Assoc. Launches Initiative to Attract Students

In conjunction with the VCU Neighborhood Team, the Fan District Association has launched an initiative to attract new student members and build relationships with the VCU community.

"One of the things that makes our neighborhood wonderful is the diversity of its residents, and VCU students make up a significant component," said Danielle Dick, Fan District Association board member and VCU professor of psychiatry, psychology and human and molecular genetics. "It’s our hope that by encouraging students to feel part of the neighborhood, we will promote a sense of unity and partnership that will be good for everyone in our community."

The Fan District Association took part in multiple “Welcome Week” events at VCU, including the Student Organization and Volunteer Opportunities Fair, the off-campus student social and the block party at Monroe Park. Approximately 300 students signed up for the association's mailing list through these events. The association is also sponsoring a $5 student membership, which includes a special association t-shirt designed by a VCU student.

The Fan District Association is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and betterment of our urban community.

The VCU Neighborhood Team is a collective of university faculty, students and staff aimed towards developing and maintaining positive relationships between VCU and the surrounding communities. The team strives to be proactive in addressing community issues and educating students on the impacts they have on the community around them.
