    VERDE is a VCU student organization that aims to deepen intercultural understanding and reduce the carbon footprint of foreign communities through translated signage, workshops and community engagement. It stands for Viable Environmental Research in a Diverse Energy-Conscience Community and is largely funded by a $20,000 International Strategic Initiative Award granted to Nadal by the Global Education Office for the 2013-2014 academic calendar.

    West Grace South Hosts Pilot Residence Hall Recycling Program

    Late last month, 122 of the small, blue, all-in-one recycling bins were distributed to each of the dorm rooms of 835 West Grace Street South, home of VCU’s ASPiRE, a living-learning community for students interested in community engagement, as part of a new residence hall recycling program.

    Unwanted Student Items Find Homes

    This year, the university is working with CARITAS, a collaborative network of people and institutions that help those in need, in an effort to put unwanted student belongings to good use by providing families struggling to overcome homelessness with basic items they need as they move to permanent housing.
