Each year, the VCU Service-Learning Office offers a series of workshops that provide instructors with opportunities to improve their knowledge and skill in teaching high-quality service-learning courses.
The workshop topics change each year, and the format consists of both didactic and interactive sessions. Expert guest speakers and panel presentations are incorporated into the agenda, and a toolkit of resources is provided to all participants.
Workshops are also available for teams of VCU service-learning faculty and their community partners. The workshops provide partnership teams with the tools and resources to identify the top priorities for strengthening their partnerships. Teams will collaboratively identify and address the priority goals for their partnerships, working together to develop sustainable action plans and roadmaps for future dialogue and collaborative planning.
Until further notice, all Spring 2020 service-learning workshops will be held as online workshops, using Zoom.
Service-Learning Partnership Development Virtual Workshops
Friday, March 20, 9 to 11 a.m. OR
Monday, March 23, 12 to 2 p.m.
The virtual Partnership Development workshops are offered for service-learning teams of VCU service-learning faculty and their community partners and will provide partnership teams with the tools and resources to identify the top priorities for strengthening their partnerships. Given the many challenges service-learning faculty and community partners face as they navigate the uncertain waters of COVID-19, these workshops aim to help service-learning teams collaborate, brainstorm, plan, and evaluate based on their shared objectives and outcomes--which may be critical during this time of change and adaptation. Community and faculty partners must attend these workshops as a team.
Two online sessions will be offered: Friday, March 20, 9 to 11 a.m. OR Monday, March 23, 12 to 2 p.m. Teams need only attend one of the sessions. To attend, register online and select the date and time that works best for you and your partner; please complete only one registration per team. We strongly encourage you to register by Thursday, March 19 if possible.
