Answering a Community Need: Training for Youth Development Professionals

RichmondYDN housed at the Mary and Frances Youth Center in the VCU Division of Community Engagement recently hosted it’s first ever Professional Skill Building Day, a hands-on event designed to equip youth development professionals with essential skills to lead, grow, and make an impact. In response to a community need, this event brought together professionals in caregiving, education, healthcare, and social services for a day of interactive workshops, networking, and career development. Sessions covered key topics such as grant writing, nonprofit leadership, AI tools, and personal statement development, providing attendees with practical tools to elevate their work. Participants also received free professional headshots and expert insights on maximizing social media and technology for career growth.
